Using vathal and karupatti in everyday cooking
Sundakkai and manathakkali vathal are sun-dried berries that are fried in a little oil and added to vathal kuzhambu, or eaten as a crunchy side with curd rice.
Panai karupatti (palm jaggery) is a traditional sweetener for coffee, tea, payasam and sweets — grate or crush it before use.
